Fall, 2006 Enrollment Breaks Record
Official third-week credit enrollment totaled 3,216 students in fall, 2006, a record for Carroll Community College (Carroll). This fall, headcount was up three percent from fall, 2005.
Total headcount includes both part-time and full-time students. This fall, there are 1,775 part-time students and 1,441 full-time students.
Estimated full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment eligible for state aid reached 975, an increase of five percent from last fall. FTE converts the hours taken by full and part-time students into their equivalent in full-time students. (Eligible FTE excludes out-of-state students, employees, and their dependents.) This number is used by the state to determine part of state funding for colleges. Fall, 2006 FTEs are at an all-time high at Carroll.
"I believe that our exceptional increase in enrollment this fall is a testimony to the emphasis we place on our teaching and learning process," said College President Dr. Faye Pappalardo. "Many Carroll County citizens can attest to the fine education and services that our students receive, and therefore, make the choice to attend Carroll Community College."
A survey of new students during student orientation posed the question "what is the most important reason that influenced your decision to attend Carroll?" Students cited the top
three reasons to be the college's location, the college's value with its relatively low tuition, and the college's reputation, evident in referrals from family, co-workers, or friends.
Carroll Community College is located at 1601 Washington Ave. in Westminster, Md.
