Carroll Community College Holds Production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”

Westminster, Md., —An outdoor production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" will be held at Carroll Community College this summer. Performances will be held on June 27 at 8 p.m., June 28 at 8 p.m. and June 29 at 8 p.m in the Rotary Amphitheatre. Music and lyrics are by William Finn and the book is by Rachel Sheinkin. Performances are directed by Bill Gillett.

Six adolescents, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst, which chronicles the experiences of six adolescent outsiders who are vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.

The Tony Award-winning performance is a hit musical about the unlikeliest of heroes. The show has a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

The performances are offered at no cost to patrons.
