Admissions Steps for New Applicants

Welcome to Carroll Community College!

Now that your application has been submitted and accepted, there are a few more steps you need to take to get enrolled and ready for classes.

Please select your student type from the options below to see your next steps. Not sure which student type you are? Check your welcome letter!

  1. Set up your college account
    Your account must be set up before proceeding. You will receive an email from the College within 24 hours of your application being accepted with instructions for setting up your account.

    • If you don’t receive the email, check your junk/SPAM folder.
    • If you still can’t find your account setup email, call Admissions at 410-386-8430.
    • If you need help with account or multi-factor authentication setup, call the IT Help Desk at (410) 386- 8080
  2. Complete your New Student Resource Check-in
    Directions for how to access this survey are included in your account setup email. This survey will help us connect you with campus and community resources that may help you be successful at Carroll.
  3. Send your transcripts
  4. Check Course Placement & Eligibility
    Click the link above to determine if placement testing is necessary. Many students place with their high school GPA, SAT/ACT test scores, or college coursework.
  5. Contact the Advising Office to schedule an appointment.
    Call at 410-386-8435 to make your appointment. You will meet with a dedicated advisor who will help you plan and register for your courses. Prior to your meeting, view classes offered for the upcoming semester.
  6.  Learn About the Payment Process and Financial Aid Options 
    Carroll offers several options to help you pay for college. For more information, call our Financial Aid Office at 410-386-8437 or visit the Financial Aid webpage.

  7. Attend Orientation
    All new students are expected to attend New Student Orientation. This will allow you to learn more about the College, your classes, and course expectations to help you be a successful college student. Check your Carroll email for New Student Orientation dates and reminders or go to the Orientation webpage.
  8. Prepare for Class
    • Preview your classes in Canvas one week before classes begin and make any schedule adjustments before attending.
    • You can buy your books here.
  9. Go to your classes the first day they meet.
    Attending the first class and having the required books and supplies is crucial for starting off on the right foot. Meet your professors. Make new friends. Learn and grow.

Complete the survey even if you completed it as a new student at Carroll to let us know of any changes in your circumstances.
  3. Send your transcripts
    Did you attend another college during your break from Carroll? Send your college transcripts and complete a transfer evaluation form to transfer your credits to Carroll.
  4. Register for classes
    You can register for classes in Student Planning or call at 410-386-8435 to make an appointment with Academic Advising for help. You will meet with a dedicated advisor who will help you plan and register for your courses.
