Joshua Burket: Carroll Lays Foundation for Doctor of Physical Therapy
Thirty-two-year-old Joshua Burket, DPT, graduated from Carroll Community College in May 2010 with an Associate of Arts in General Education. His educational path took him to three universities with different majors until he reached his passion—physical therapy.
Burket graduated in May 2016 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Tennessee State University. In October 2016, he will take the licensing board exam to become qualified as a licensed physical therapist in Maryland. He plans to open a private, outpatient practice of his own.
“Carroll rises to the top of all the schools that I attended,” said Burket. “The admissions staff is helpful, financial aid counselors are always on point and the registration process has become simple. The faculty helped me to begin the quest for learning and to understand how what I learn today impacts what I will learn in the future. Carroll has helped me recognize the importance of sharing your education by educating others.”
“The faculty are second to none at Carroll,” said Burket, noting how the faculty takes a personal interest in each student, has impressive expertise, and helps give students direction for the next steps in their education and career.
“I started college with no direction,” explained Burket. “Yet, I have reached a new point in life. Ten years ago, I would have never imagined I could accomplish what I have achieved. I credit Carroll with helping me discover how to make that giant leap.”
