Certificate - UAS (Drone) FAA Remote Pilot

Gain the knowledge and skills to operate a remote-controlled drone and to prepare for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aeronautical Knowledge Test to earn an FAA Airman Certificate. This certificate is necessary to apply for and obtain the Remote Pilot Certificate for commercial or business drone use. Current Remote Pilot Certification holders can also benefit from the program to brush up on their knowledge for re-certification.

Drones can be used by:

  • Realtors—post striking aerial pictures and videos of properties for sale
  • Videographers—make a living shooting aerial video for a variety of businesses  
  • Farmers—survey crops from above without having to leave the house
  • Hobbyists—have fun soaring the skies and capturing amazing images 

Occupational Requirements

To earn a Remote Pilot Airman Certificate to work as a Drone Pilot, you must be 16 years old and pass TSA vetting.

    DAP-848 or DAP-158 UAS (Drone) Ground School, comparable ground school or current/previous FAA Remote Pilot certificate holder
  • Core Course:
    DAP-850 UAS (Drone) FAA Remote Pilot Certification Prep
