Nursing Program Admission Update
The Nursing Program application is currently closed.
Information about the Summer/Fall 2027 admission cycle will be available on this page on or before November 15, 2026.

The Registered Nursing (RN) Program is a 2-year daytime clinical program that admits up to 80 students once each year for the fall start.
To be eligible for admission, you must:
- Complete the 11 required prerequisite courses before starting the clinical program.
- Earn a C or higher in each prerequisite course and a minimum 2.5 prerequisite GPA.
- Take the NLN Nursing Entrance Exam (NLN-NEX) between October and February 15 prior to the fall clinical start.
- Earn the required NLN-NEX score for admission consideration: currently 138/300; subject to change. The score requirement for the 2027 admission cycle will be posted before the application period opens on November 15, 2026.

NLN-NEX (Nursing Entrance Exam)
The NLN-NEX is required for admission consideration.
What you need to know:
- Testing information and registration instructions will be posted here before testing opens in October.
- You will register for the exam through NLN.org.
- Testing takes place at the Carroll Community College Testing Center.
- The exam includes Verbal, Math, and Science sections.
- You will have one hour per section.

Preparing for the NLN-NEX
- Start a study plan early—ideally in the summer or fall before you apply.
- Use the study books available on reserve in the Carroll Community College Library—ask at their front desk. Preview their resources and decide if you want to purchase your own copies through sources such as Amazon.
- NEX study guides and practice exams are available for purchase through NLN.org here.
- Consider the 30-day self-paced online Nursing Entrance Exam Prep Course offered through Carroll WBCE in August and October.
- Your own textbooks, class notes, and other course materials can also be valuable study resources.
