Student Emergency Assistance Fund (SEAF)

Appeals Committee

The Appeals Committee is made up of Carroll Community College staff members from several functional areas, including student services, advising, financial assistance, and student support. The committee meets regularly to review student appeals including Student Emergency Assistance Fund (SEAF) applications.

Applying for SEAF Assistance

To be considered for SEAF assistance, students must submit a completed SEAF application along with any required supporting documentation. The emergency situation must be within the current semester of application. SEAF will not be considered for students who are not currently enrolled in degree or certificate seeking credit courses or a Workforce Development program. The Student Emergency Assistance Fund covers short-term, unanticipated emergencies that meet all the following circumstances: they must be urgent, unforeseen, non-recurring, beyond the student’s reasonable control, AND directly threaten the student’s ability to remain enrolled.

Once a complete application is received:

  • A confirmation email will be sent to your Lynx student email account.
  • The Appeals Committee will review your complete application at its next scheduled meeting. The committee meets weekly and addresses SEAF requests in a timely manner. Applications missing information may not be considered.
  • You will be contacted at your Carroll email regarding the status of your application, any additional information needed, and next steps.
  • All SEAF funding decisions are final.
