About the Certificate

Students in our Office Technology Certificate program develop the proficiencies necessary to perform successfully in the modern office environment, including skills in communications, business procedures, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, presentation & personal information management software, and keyboarding procedures and correspondence.

You can also earn MOS certifications as part of the program to demonstrate you have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and/or Outlook.

Career

This is a career-based program that prepares students for entry-level administrative positions, enhances their vocational skills and prepares them for industry certifications.

With a certificate in Office Technology, you can attain a position as an administrative or executive assistant, data entry specialist, medical or legal secretary, or other clerical positions. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2019 the median salary for medical secretaries to executive assistants ranged from $35,760 to 60,890.

Transfer

This certificate is also an excellent pathway to pursue a 2 or 4-year degree. Most of the courses can be applied to the AAS Business Management degree at Carroll and transfer as lower level electives to 4-year institutions.
