Steps to Becoming a NEW Carroll Credit Student

  1. Apply Online
    • The application takes 1-2 business days to process and should be submitted by the student who will be taking classes at Carroll. We have found that students are more successful when they do this process themselves.
    • You will enter your personal email address (Gmail, iCloud, etc.); CCPS students do not use your high school account.
  2. Set up your college account. Your account must be set up before proceeding.
    • You will receive an email from the College the next day with instructions for setting up your account.
    • Call Admissions at 410-386-8430 if you need help with account setup.
  3. Send your high school transcript (if graduated within 5 years) or college transcript(s) and any applicable test scores to admissions@carrollcc.edu. A transfer evaluation request form needs to be filled out for any official college transfer credit evaluations (located in Lynx Student Portal, under Carroll Forms).
  4. Check Course Placement & Eligibility to determine if placement testing is necessary.
  5. Contact the Advising Office at 410-386-8435 to schedule an appointment.
  6. Learn About the Payment Process and Financial Aid Options
    • Carroll offers several options to help you pay for college. For more information, call our Financial Aid Office at 410-386-8437 or visit the Financial Aid webpage.
  7. Attend Orientation
    • All new students are expected to attend New Student Orientation. This will allow you to learn more about the College, your classes, and course expectations to help you be a successful college student. Check your Carroll email for New Student Orientation dates and reminders or go to the Orientation webpage.
  8. Prepare for Class
    • Preview your classes in Canvas one week before classes begin and make any schedule adjustments before attending. You can buy your books here.
    • Go to your classes the first day they meet. (Attending the first class and having the required books and supplies is crucial for starting off on the right foot.) Meet your professors. Make new friends. Learn and grow.
