“El Tanguero” is a heartfelt tribute to the timeless art of Argentine Tango, featuring compositions by renowned masters such as Astor Piazzolla, Jose Luis Merlin, Carlos Guastavino, and a special tribute to Piazzolla by Maximo Diego Pujol. Within the program, the movements of Piazzolla’s seminal work Four Seasons of Buenos Aires create structural touchstones as listeners are guided through the passionate rhythms, intricate harmonies, and profound emotional depth of Argentinian art music.
Ravita Jazz

Led by bassist Phil Ravita and including some of the DMV’s finest musicians, Ravita Jazz will perform new and classic tunes. Enjoy jazz, funk and blues from the band’s latest recording. The critically acclaimed Alice Blue has risen steadily on jazz radio charts and has been ranked Number 1 on the Roots Music Report for 5 consecutive weeks after its May release . Jazz journalist Raul da Gama calls the music “relevant and enduring,” lauding the album’s “beautifully crafted arrangements.” Hear originals such as “Golden Sky” and “Almost Blue,” which are getting airplay throughout North America! Jazz lovers will also be treated to tunes by Bill Evans and Duke Ellington.
One of the Mid-Atlantic’s most versatile and sought after bassists, Dr. Ravita appears with many jazz and classical ensembles. O’s Place magazine calls Ravita “One of the finest bassists outside of New York City.” A college and university jazz professor Dr. Ravita hosts a weekly radio program on WMTB 89.9 FM. He has shared the stage with jazz greats Jimmy Heath, Bobby Shew, Claudio Roditi and Ruby Glover, appearing in countless clubs, concert halls and festivals. He won critical acclaim for his work on the 2021 recording Jagged Spaces, released Oriana with his band, Ravita Jazz in 2023. For more visit https://www.baltimorebass.com

Advanced ticket sales are available. Box office sales are available approximately one hour prior to ticketed events. Tickets may be purchased in advance through InstantSeats for all performances.
