New students starting in the Fall 2020 Term, including students transferring in from another college and dual enrollment students, should attend New Student Orientation.

Because of COVID-19, all of our New Student Orientation sessions will be held remotely through Microsoft Teams. Our program will be broken down into multiple mini sessions through August 17-20 and August 24-27. The first week will cover broader information about starting at Carroll while the second week will dive into your Area of Study as well as engagement opportunities.

Registration for New Student Orientation is now open! Click here to sign up for individual orientation sessions. There are a number of sessions that are held over two weeks for you to get prepared to start at Carroll. In most cases there are at least two session dates and times for you to pick from. You only need to one session on each topic.

The Parent Session was held on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Parents can access the recorded session below to review information. If you have any questions, about material in the parent session, please contact Dr. Kristie Crumley, Associate Provost of Student Affairs and Marketing.

All links for sessions will be sent out the Friday before. If you need to receive another copy of your links, please email studentlife@carrollcc.edu. Students can also access information and links via the Canvas New Student Orientation site. From the Carroll home page, click on My Carroll, Canvas and enter your Carroll login, and then click on the New Student Orientation tile on your Canvas dashboard.

Your attendance and participation are expected! Students who do not participate in our virtual sessions are expected to view the materials and recordings on Canvas. Recordings will be available 1-2 days after the session has taken place.

Some of the things orientation will include are:

    • Tips and tricks on navigating college
    • Training on the technology platforms you’ll use at Carroll
    • Connecting with other new students
    • Hearing from current students about their experience at Carroll
    • Connecting with current faculty in your area of study
    • And so much more!

Before orientation, please make sure to:

    • Download the Ellucian Go app on your cell phone from the Android, Google Play, or Apple store. This app will allow you to access your student schedule, view campus maps, register for classes next semester, and find resources on campus.
    • Complete your "Tell Us More About Yourself" survey in Starfish. Go to the MyCarroll page, click on the Lynx Student Portal, and then log into Starfish. The survey can be found in Starfish by clicking on the three-lined menu button in the upper left corner, then on the down arrow next to your name.

For all sessions, it is recommended that you use a device with a camera and microphone so that you can fully participate. Test your device before the start of the session and log in a few minutes before the start time so you have time to troubleshoot any issues.

Please note that all sessions will be recorded and be made available for students who are unable to attend the live virtual sessions. All sessions will be posted on Canvas for students to access and those who don’t attend a live session are expected to review all material online.

Fall classes begin on Monday, August 31, 2020. Please make sure to review your course format by visiting Student Planning from the Lynx Student Portal so that you can make adjustments to your schedule based on your class format preference.
