EKG technicians are responsible for performing diagnostic tests to assess the heart's rate and rhythm. They may work in clinical laboratory settings, hospitals or physicians' offices. EKG technicians may set up and administer EKGs, stress tests and Holter monitors. Hours may span days, evenings and weekends depending on the facility.
Applicants for the Certified Cardiographic Technician Examination must have a high school diploma or equivalent and successfully complete this training.
You and other students perform EKGs on each other. Training includes practice with Holter monitors and stress tests.

Successful completion of this training prepares you to sit for the Certified Cardiographic Technician Examination administered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
